ConsensusPolling Affordances

DevelopmentTeam

What (summary)

Little affordances that make running a large scale consensus poll easier for the participants, listeners, and coaches.

Why this is important

ConsensusPolling is one of our core products (we're building HOW we work together). It also has a viral component that is important for growth. If participants in ConsensusPolls about the website find them easy to participate in, they will be more likely to invite their organizations here to make their key decisions using ConsensusPolling.

A successful poll involving 1,000 people would be news that the popular press might pick up which would attract more of the community builders we're looking for.

Tasks

Brainstorm from ConsensusPollingAwareness

This comes from Obed, Julia and Ted - feel free to refactor as needed and/or talk with us about what we mean
  • we want dev to build us an app
    • ConsensusPollingAffordances for Participants takes care of easy sign up & status changing
    • ConsensusPollingAffordances for Participants2 takes care of notification preferences and timestamping of status, so we know which statuses are current
    • automatic tallying
    • YesMeter
    • two views: one with just names and Yes/NotYet status and the other than includes all discussions
    • two phases
      • beginning a consensus poll - questionnaire for the initiator and automatically have it all set
    • inactivity thresholds
    • design with Vinh stage

More desires added later:

  • During a poll, I would like the ability to mark the name of one in the polling group. If this person's status changes I would like to be notified via email MartinPfahler I love it! Ted Ernst | talk
  • During the poll I would like an "emotion meter". I want a few buttons or slider button with a few simple options like:
a) I am currently very exited and engaged in this poll.
b) I am becoming increasingly confused
c) If things keep going as they are I will become bored or frustrated and likely drop out of this poll.
I would like such options standardized for each polling person, each having this button arrangement. Then I would like the software to in some way average the results, so that on the polling page I can see the group’s emotion. I want this because “on-line” I cannot read body language or emotion like in a physical consensus process. This will gain me one extra process input that I don’t have now. MartinPfahler

Hey Dev folks, I'm guessing that we, the customer, need to prioritize our desires, correct? How does this process work? Ted Ernst | talk 13:09, 23 August 2007 (PDT)
